1.  Grateful this healing process is going to be so much easier than last time.  I’m barely cramping or spotting, and I’m feeling optimistic about the future – as I did after my previous D&C, only that one was nearly 2 months after we knew the pregnancy was doomed.  This was good.  The right decision.  Grateful that I think I’m going to be ok.

2.  Lasagna was great.  Recipe here, for any anemic folks out there trying to beef up their tomato-sauce-cooked-in-cast-iron quotient.  I’m talkin’ to you, Mermaid.

3.  My boss had a friend from work email me to see if I’d be “willing to take Monday off next week for my day off instead of Friday.”  Grateful for two things.  1) my boss is simply trying to give me an extra day to recover at home, which is very perceptive and sweet of her.  2)  my friend didn’t let on that she had my personal email at work, so she didn’t release it to my (admittedly sweet) boss.  Good manager.  Better friend.

4.  It’s supposed to be warm all weekend, and we’re going to the beach with the dog.  She’s not allowed out there after may 1, but it’s just been too long and crappy a winter to think that taking a dog to the Atlantic shore sounded like fun.  Today, it sounds like fun.  I hope she chases the hell out of the french-fry stealing gulls…

5.  One of my dearest friends in college found me on Facebook.  I hate Facebook, never check in, rarely respond to the inane “so&so sent you a green plant to save the planet, send an orchid in return” games that FB is all about.  Nah, what I love it for is the fact that since I have an oddball name, people I haven’t heard from for decades (I’ve moved around an awful lot in the last 25 years, and can be a shitty correspondent when stamps and post offices are involved) can find me and get in contact.  I think she lives in Maine now, and I am delighted to have such a good excuse to get up to Maine soon – or to have a houseguest here if she ever comes to the city.  yay for social networking sites!

  • So glad to read your blog these days, although sometimes commenting is just beyond what I can do. I’m really being a wimp right now! But I’m glad to hear recovery from the D&C is going well, I’m scheduled for Monday. Mostly I’m afraid things will kick into gear (in a hugely bad way) before that, although I know that isn’t likely.

Thanks for keeping me a little bit sane.

You are NOT a wimp, and you never need to apologize for not commenting. I hope you have an easy time of it on Monday, and that this weekend is as peaceful as it can be for you. Take good care of yourself. This is a shitty time no matter how you look at it, but you aren’t alone.

  • enjoy the weather. i’m about to get in my car and leave the city myself, windows wide open
