Happy Fireworks Day!

Not a lot going on internally, and it’s still a few days ’til the ultrasound.  (ARRGHHHHH!!!!!)  So I have to obsess on what I have to work with.  Which is not much.

Oh yeah, I did forget to pack one of my pill bottles at home.  Fortunately, I’m on two different strengths of Estradiol, and it was the 2mg pills I forgot, but since I remembered the 1mg pills, I’ve been able to make do.  But it means that until Tuesday night I’ve got 4 pessaries three times a day instead of 3.

Sigh.

Boobs are tender, the Thirst is still out of control, and the Hunger is threatening to take over my life.  Oh yeah, and my previously glowing skin has erupted in one monstrous zit.  But really, the only thing I’m noticing more are the cramps.  Still cramping, more on one side than the other, but not where I think of my tubes being so I’m trying not to hit panic stations just yet.  And since I’ve been through ectopic pain, and this aint nothing like it, I’m not worried.  Not really.  Not too much.

Really.

Ligament pain?  Anyone?  Is that what this is?  Who’s had verifiable ligament pain to fret over?

I’m trying not to worry about it.  Trying to ignore everything except 4th of July festivities and enjoying the time away from home with my parents.   Going to raid the genealogy files for baby names.  Vincarina is winning so far in popular opinion.  Pray we find something better.

  • What’s ectopic pain like? I’m analyzing every twinge too, since beta #2 and our trip to Europe for 10 days are coming up on Monday (the trip against medical advice, in case of ectopic they say). I’d appreciate any details you can give me as to when I should start to worry about weird abdo sensations.
I hope I end up with a little nausea to reassure me sometime soon!
Glad to hear the trip is so great so far. I’d love to hear your other name options when you find some.

Hey Kate, In my experience – and I never had a rupture just a minor tear as the embryo detached & moved down my tube, with accompanying bleeding – it was excruciating. I was asking my doctor what to expect, since we were doing “watchful waiting” and he said, “You won’t mistake it for anything else.”

    I didn’t.

Couldn’t sit up kind of pain. Couldn’t walk. Couldn’t breathe properly. Like being stabbed in the belly with a knife and being afraid to move because that might dislodge the knife which would, of course, kill you. That kind of pain.

In the words of my doc, “You won’t mistake it for anything else.”

And I suspect they could take care of you just as well in Europe as they could here. I’m glad you’re not cancelling your trip. I took one “against medical advice” last year in the early days of pregnancy, and while I didn’t have a happy ending, I’m also so glad I took the trip. Have a great time!

Thanks for all the details. Maybe I can relax a little now that I think I’ll be able to recognize badness if it happens. I didn’t know you could reply to a reply as a sub-reply, if you know what I mean – very cool. Or maybe your blogger is just more sophisticated than mine.
Hope the monster zit clears up!

  • Your DoG was great. Hopefully the cramping is just your bod making room for the sprogbaby.

So glad you made it safely.

My round ligament pain is below my abdomen on the inside of my hip bones. Does that make sense? It started at the same time as the groin muscle achiness, shortly after I started showing. I had all kinds of stretching-type feelings and other twinges/mild cramps earlier on. I’m sure you’re just feeling your uterus changing and growing.

  • RLP sucks @ss. Completely. It feels like, at times, that your uterous is going to stretch itself out of your body! But it does kind of fade- until your womb needs to stretch even more! I find that a warm shower can help when it gets really bad; on normal days, I run my fingers from the bottom of the belly to the top in a swooshing motion and that helps.

As to the zits… I swear, my face is one big pool of oil. I can wash it every hour and ten minutes later… oily again. One of the finer points! ;)

I had a lot of cramping very early on and still do sometimes (I’m supposed to be 8w1d right now). I thought I might be having RLP at one point, but I sort of felt like it was probably too early for that, though not impossibly early. Anyway, my cramping was slightly more on one side than the other, and I asked a nurse about it and she suggested that it was probably corpus luteum cyst. Have you considered that? You did ovulate, right? So it could be that. And so far everything has been okay with me (u/s #2 is in two days), so I would definitely not worry.

  • I had a lot of cramping early on and some spotting/bleeding. The doctors never could give me a good explanation, but all is seeming to go well….. I do remember thinking that this was early for RLP; but then again, my body never does what I expect it to do anyway! :) Hope the cramping goes away soon.
