1.  Wow.  Baby’s heart is still beating.  Haven’t had that happen before.  Have seen it the first time, but then not at the next week’s appointment.  I hadn’t realized how utterly terrified I was until I was sitting in that US room, clenching my hands into fists & willing proto-sprog to be alive with everything that’s in me.  Up til that point I would have said I was feeling pretty confident that everything was ok.  I guess not so much.  But I’m grateful.  Oh my, am I ever grateful.  And feeling more confident every day.  Even thinking of removing the “proto” from its name a few weeks early, in celebration.  But, since it’s my verbal way of knocking wood, I may not be able to bring myself to do it…

2.  Indian food.  The spicier the better.  Actually, any spicy is good, but spicy vegetables that I don’t have to eat warily for fear of setting off the yecch with a bite of iffy meat?  All I want to eat is Indian food, and wouldn’t you know that that’s the one sort of restaurant we really don’t have a good one of, anywhere near our house?  May have to make subway pilgrimages to Jackson Diner the next time the Boy goes out of town…

3.  Several URL friends are coming up preggers at the same time I am.  This just delights me, that not only do I get to be so happy, but some of the supportive women I’ve been reading & getting support from over the last year get to be this happy too – at the same time.  Even though I want EVERYONE to be pregnant with me right now and am cranky that not everyone is, I’m grateful that so many of my friends are.  And it makes me so danged hopeful that everyone else will be joining the party really soon now.

4.  Fresh mozzarella cheese.  Dairy is another good friend right now.

5.  Sleep.  Oh god, I’ve always loved to sleep, but these day?  I could sleep for weeks.  It always feels like the right thing to do…

If you want something truly delicious, try Indian/Chinese food. It is super spicy and combines all the deliciousness of the two cuisines into one amazing thing. There’s a great restaurant called Tangra on Queens Blvd (can easily get there on the 7). I love that food! If you go, try the chicken lollipops (app) and Chili Chicken, made dry (vs. w/gravy). (and thanks again for the midwife names)

I’ve been there! A group of friends all get together for new restaurants once a month, and that one’s been the hands-down favorite for this year. I don’t think we tried the chili chicken, but the chicken lollipops were fantastic.

Might be a Tangra pilgrimage in the near future as well…

Now I’m jealous and want to go again!! I’ve heard of another place called Ming in NJ that is supposed to be better than Tangra, but I haven’t made the trek out there yet. Maybe soon.
