May all your dearest dreams come true

I’ve been wanting to update my header for a while, but none of the “your baby is this big” ideas really thrilled me, and my creativity seems to have entered a slumpy period.  I’m cookin’ a baby, damnit.  I can’t be bothered with brain work.

Besides, ‘Poppy Seed’ is just a cooler mental image than ‘Grape’.

But Sprog is obviously no longer a very hungry poppy seed, but rather a spice-cravin’ big-head-alien.  So something had to change.

Fortunately, last night’s Dandan noodle of a dinner came complete with a fortune cookie so perfect that it might have finished off my IF fortune cookie collection.  Standing in the kitchen with a noodle hanging out of my mouth like a mouse tail dangling from an owl’s beak I started crying great big fat tears of happiness.

Your dearest dream is coming true.

Well, yeah.  It does seem to be.

Which got me to thinking of all the fortune cookie fortunes I’ve amassed over the last two years.  Granted, there were an awful lot of “Happy is better than wise” level fortunes that I tossed as soon as I finished the almond cookie, but here, in order, are the keepers that have been tacked to my bulletin board since we started this TTC journey:

  • You are filled up with a sense of urgency.  Be patient or you may end up confused.
  • Your present plans are going to succeed.
  • One must know that there is a path at the end of the road.
  • You need to live authentically, and you can’t ignore that.
  • Your secret desire to completely change your life will manifest.
  • Good news of a long-awaited event will arrive soon.
  • A golden egg of opportunity falls into your lap this month.
  • Your dearest dream is coming true.

So I pass that baked-goods wisdom along to you with my own wish: May all your dearest dreams come true.  (And may I recommend the dandan noodles?  Really spicydelicious.)

  • Damn you for making me cry on a Sunday morning!!!! I love it – it is coming true and I am over the moon for you and the boy. I love that your hail mary totally kicked ass and that you did not have to pull those waffling worksheets out again. I am off to have a cup of decaf tea to celebrate your dearest dream coming true.

  • I have a fortune collection, too, but it’s lacking such absolutely perfect ones. I’m so happy for you.

Sometimes fortunes are the best. Here’s the one from our fridge: “Your determination will bring you much success.” This Don’t Give Up motto has helped us quite a bit the past several months.

Susan, I’m so glad that things are continuing to go well for you – over the moon about it, really.

I’d love to get together now that I’m back on the continent. This next month I have more flexibility than usual. E me and let’s come up with a plan!!

  • I love this post and your new header- and oh, I hope it for all of us too.

My darlin’ received a great fortune once: “it is worse than you think, seek professional help”.

Anyway, the sun is playing hide and seek today, I keep thinking I’ll head out to the hammock and then it goes in and rain threatens, and I think nevermind…. it is nice to have a day to stay still and catch up.
    Have a wonderful day,

  • I love it! I have quite the collection, too, but mine are all at work – where I tend to eat the Chinese for lunch, so I’ll have to share later. But my favorite and most recent one was – Bide your time, for success is near! I love good fortunes – so glad your is actually coming true!

How reassuring to get that fortune now! The only fortune I’ve ever kept is from two months ago that said, “You often think in terms of we.” Pretty appropriate to get that one during a triplet pregnancy.

  • Love this post AND the new header.

  • What a wonderful fortune! We kept all of ours during TTC too and had some prophetic ones on the BFP cycle.

  • Your new header and this writing is so absolutely cool I am just grinning like an idiot. Thanks for the grinfest and the kind wish.
