1.  Tomorrow is my midwife’s appointment.  I am rather excited about this.

2.  The boy told one of his oldest friends that we’re expecting a baby.  She lives in England, is a well-respected author, and a breast cancer survivor.   In a perfect world, I truly believe that she and the Boy could have been happy together, but they split up and found other loves when they were young.  I’ve never met her, but I’m rather touched that the boy confided our news to her.  Granted, from what I’ve heard of her, her next words were probably “are you fucking insane?” but still, it made me all warm inside to hear that he told her.  Not sure why, exactly.

3.  We were watching the movie “Holes” last night and it got so stupid that the Boy turned it off, mid-scene.  Something of a breakthrough for him, who is more inclined to shudder but keep reading – or watching – long past the point of enjoyment.  I like to think some of my attitudes are rubbing off on him.  Because of him I (usually) pick up my wet towel off the floor; because of me he (occasionally) turns off a movie that’s too stupid to enjoy.  This is the definition of a successful marriage, I think.  

4.  My dog’s ears are the softest things in creation.

5.  The summer program that I run for teenagers is almost over.  It’s been a long summer, and I’m looking forward to the end of it so I can catch up on some much-needed sleep…
