Days of Grace 8-3-09
1. Early-afternoon-sickness two days in a row. I think my poor body decided to relent and allow me to feel the goddamn discomforts since my anxiety is so much more uncomfortable than the nausea. Whatever. It helps. Damn, it helps.
2. Cicadas. They aren’t the same as the cicadas at home that can drown out a highway full of motorcycles when they get going. Cicadas here know that they are outnumbered by people and goldfish and buildings, so they try not to make too much of a nuisance of themselves. But I heard the first cicada of summer yesterday afternoon and it reminded me of summertime when I was a kid, picking their discarded shells off of mulberry trees by the hundreds. I want that for my child. I want my child to marvel at the perfect, empty bug-skin. But in the meantime, I reveled in the memories.
3. Dog’s nose isn’t oozing blood at all (though it was a bitch to get it out of the sheets and the pillowcases and the carpeting), though she’s taking it even easier than usual today. The Boy is not limping. These are both very good things.
4. Pregnancy planners are a blast. Let me recommend this one. I spent a happy afternoon filling out forms & registries and calendars and generally wallowing in “happy normal pregnancy playtime”. Much needed fun.
5. A raven hanging out on the pier near IKEA yesterday, I swear it was laughing at all of us. You don’t see ravens too much hear – the seagulls drive them away, apparently. But it was wonderful to watch/hear it laughing at everyone. I miss corvids.

I am happy to hear that Nellie and the boy are doing well. Mr. M accidentally hit our dog Rico when we first started playing on the Wii – it was awful. Every time we pulled the Wii out, Rico would hide behind my legs.
He is fine now but it took some time!
Really happy to hear about the early afternoon sickness!
