1.  Rather prosaic entry here, but I really love cleaning cast iron with steel wool.  Especially a brand-new steel wool pad, the kind with soap in them.  It’s great soap, makes everything feel super clean, plus, if it’s a really caked-on-grimy pan, that steel wool cuts through it like, well, like steel wool through grease.  Fun, in a strange, strange way.

I can’t believe I just confessed to enjoying washing dishes…

2.  The dog liberated almost an entire bag of her dried chicken treats.  She inhales these things when we give her one, so both the boy & I found it odd that we were watching her carry one (hah) all over the house.  That one would – apparently – have been about 1 of 45 or 50, and I expect we’ll be finding them stashed around the house for months to come.  No more treats for the dog until I find a better place to stash what’s left of them!

3.  I spent yesterday noon lurking by the library where I want to be transfered.  A park surrounds the library on three sides and while I was eating my bagel there, two different feral cats came up to me.  Being the big fan of stray cats that I am, I tried to get them to come up to me, but they wouldn’t trust me.  Another reason to hope I get the job.  I could totally use a feral cat project right now…

4.  Figs.  Figs with my morning coffee.  Figs and Pink Lady Apples with my morning coffee.  Autumn-fruit heaven!

5.  Another quiet day at home, hopefully spent jumping back into my book.  And not, you know, looking at my donor’s (my donor’s!) profile online.  Again.  Because honestly?  Feeling pretty damned grateful about the way this one’s shaking out, too.
