Days of Grace 11-28-09
1. The Boy’s youngest daughter is home overnight. She surprised her mother by coming home for Thanksgiving, and she’s with us tonight, and I couldn’t be happier to see her. Thankful she’s here, and thankful we’re finally to a point where I’m so happy that she’s here. We’ve come a long way in just a few years…
2. Thanksgiving was wonderful, despite the craptacular news the day before. (fucking cyst). I missed my own family, but the boy’s family made me feel – as they always do – so welcome, so much a part of their family. And the food? OMG. Let’s just say that even if my ovaries weren’t behaving as if Lupron=Menopur, my sudden weight gain must have them believing I’m entering a post-famine feast-time. I’m fat & happy & Thankful for what I’ve got to be Thankful for – namely 2 wonderful families.
3. Poinsettias. They just make me happy.
4. Watching my cowardly, skittish dog tackle gigantic labradors at top speed and race away, taunting them over her shoulders. She has so much fun in dog paradise (aka Connecticut) that it’s hard to make her come back home. Literally hard, since she hides when she sees us packing the car to leave.
5. Home again, and home is good. Specifically the bed. And my own bathroom (with a spot for my medicine that I don’t have to hide from anyone else). And my kitchen. And sofa. I even felt a rush of nostalgia coming in on the BQE, and if that isn’t amazing, I don’t know what is.
