Days of Grace 1-31-10
1. Sleeping in. It’s all I had planned for the day, and I am happy to report that I accomplished my goal. I might nap, later on, just to round out my sleep-all-day experience, but really? I’m feeling like the day was not a total waste, just because I got to snooze til I couldn’t snooze no more.
2. Cream of Wheat and hot chocolate to start off the morning. Cream of wheat that I don’t even have to make because the Boy likes his version better than mine. Sitting around, being served breakfast like a lady of leisure – ahhhhh!
3. Going out to dinner tonight to the great Chinese place in Bensonhurst. Spicy Dan Dan Noodles, tea-smoked duck, lots of interesting conversation, it should be a good time, and I’m certainly looking forward to it.
4. It’s cold out today, but bright & sunny. I just might go for a nice long walk to wake myself up and remind myself of good NYC things. It might even be a day for going to a museum – the Silk Road exhibit at the Museum of Natural History might be a fun one to go see. Hmmmmm.
5. We are currently engaged in a battle of wits & wills with a family of mice. Really damned clever and bold mice. And yes, at the moment they’re winning. And this shouldn’t be fun, but it sort of is, in a “how the hell did they get that peanut butter off that trap without springing it, when I can’t even set the trap without snapping my thumb?” kind of way. You gotta kinda admire mice. (You also gotta kinda utterly despair at the dog’s complete lack of hunting ability, but that’s another rant.) For the moment, I am full of plans for how to prevail against our bitty rodential enemies, and I hope to emerge triumphant on the other side.

We had mice at our prior house – wow – they really are amazing little things. We could not bear to kill them so we used humane traps and Mr. M would let them loose in a nearby park!
