Days of Grace 2-9-10
1. Rose Hip Tea. Which is, apparently, one of 5 – and only 5 – herbal tisanes that the Canadian government deems fit for maternal consumption. Since orange peel tea (ewwww!) doesn’t appeal, and I’ve never been a huge fan of lemon balm, (though I may be about to try to force myself to like it), rose hip tea it is. Sort of like a poor-woman’s red zinger, only without the raspberry leaf. But it’s not sweet – because even a single day of half-sweet lemonade was making me yech – and it’s not artificial anything – because the remnants of my granola-lovin’ self were rebelling at the thought of all that disodium blech – and I can drink it by the gallon without doing anything but giving myself a nice dose of easily piss-out-able Vitamin C.
2. Work yesterday was tolerable. Slow, because no one really knew we were open yet. And I had a couple of sweet encounters with ‘my teens’ – the difficult ones whom no one likes, but who unaccountably keep coming back – likely because they honestly have nowhere else to go. After coming in and giving me shit for a few minutes, a couple of the guys stayed behind after their buddies were gone to say something along the lines of, “I’m really glad you’re open again. I missed coming here.” Yeah, guy. In a sick, sick way, I missed you too. And if you throw that bottle on the floor, I’m gonna go all Klingon on your ass so don’t push me.
3. The dog’s new game of greeting me at the door by carrying a pair of my shoes downstairs has intensified, and while it’s totally puzzling, it’s also totally adorable and makes me smile at least as much as her previous routine of launching herself into the airspace by my head. I’m also much less likely to lose a tooth or break a nose with this new game. Not to mention the fact that now I always know where my shoes are…
4. Sick as a dog yesterday. I’ll confess, the only reason I’m posting it here is to remind myself to be grateful. Yesterday was rough, nausea-wise. Which. Is. O.K.
5. Dinner tonight with Mo! At a fun restaurant! Yay!
