Nothing New to Report. Wow.
Eleven and a half weeks, and all seems well. Spotting has (dare I say it aloud) ended.
Such. A. Relief.
Even though I’d stopped panicking each and every time I saw blood, it was still taking more out of me than I realized. Because now that it’s gone (knock wood) it feels wonderful. Like I’ve been handed a reprieve. It’s been a long 5 weeks.
I’m bloated enough that I’m considering taking Colace, but I’m nervous about that. Never had to worry about things like this before, but what happens if it takes effect while you’re out & about your day? Yikes. I’d say I’ll wait til a weekend, but I might just explode before then. Constipation sucks.
The girls are very happy with their new C-cup accommodations, and I am enjoying the feeling of not bursting out the top of my bra, muffin-wise. Definitely need to get my camera charged and start taking belly shots, because I’ve definitely developed a belly. Of course, that could be the ‘eat what you can when you can’ mentality that I’ve adopted. I’ve been too nervous to step on a scale since I am, technically, way too early to be gaining any weight yet.
Other than the street drama, the lovely weekend, and the work nastiness, nothing’s really changed. I’ve an OB appointment tomorrow morning, and for the first time I think I can honestly say that I’d be ok if he had to cancel it. I’m pregnant, and I have every bit of confidence that I’ll still be pregnant this time tomorrow. And the day after that.
Wow.

Glad you bought yourself that bra
And I’m more glad that everything else is going so well pregnancy-wise. Hooray for no spotting!!
FWIW, with each of my pregnancies I literally gained a pound a week, starting at week 5. People’s bodies just work differently, I think, when it comes to packing on pregnancy weight.
Can’t wait to hear the good report from the OB visit!
Yay for no news and feeling good (and supported!)!
So looking forward to those belly shots.
Love,
Maddy
As far as the colace goes, it’s pretty mild and won’t make you explode. The first time I was pregnant, I did nothing and in hindsight, wish I had. The second time, I added in high-fiber cereal daily and took colace every time things felt *ahem* not quite right (but not if I’d taken anything in the previous 3 days). It’s not a laxative (to speed things along), it’s just a softener, so things…uhm…go better when you do.
What got me through my last pregnancy was apple juice and lots of it. I hated apple juice at the time but have come to love it since then. Try drinking it warm at night. It worked wonders for me!!!
Colace will not make you explode. Even milk of magnesia didn’t really do that to me.
My tip: metamucil every morning. And if I don’t manage to go to the bathroom daily, I add in some colace and or milk of magnesia. Just no stimulant laxatives.
Glad the spotting is gone.
I’ll second Kate’s comments (since she’s also the one who gave me the initial advice!): in addition to That stuff saved me from losing my mind. I’ve had constipation issues this whole pregnancy although particularly horrid the first 20 weeks (and knock on wood, that’s about the worst problem I’ve had, so I’m not complaining!) and MoM was a huge help.
Woops, my comment got botched… I meant ot say, “In addition to fiber, milk of magnesia was a fantastic help .”
Constipation fix for me at least: activia yogurt (it took about 10 days for me to see a difference but wow it was awesome), and I tried to eat 2-4 prunes throughout the da with large glasses of water. I’m sure you’re already drinking a ton of water so no need to mention that it helps.
Glad to hear you’re at a good place, that you’re not worried about the u/s tomorrow. 12 weeks is almost there- and that is a huge milestone. YAY
Thanks for the reminder about Target. I am in a great deal of discomfort when I wear a bra and my old bras are probably secretly plotting to strangle me in my sleep for what I put them through… I’ve been holding off waiting to see where I finally land boob size wise, but maybe 2 cheap bras from Target might be needed.
Woot for 11 and a half weeks!!! Unfortunately, the colace is not that strong…I was taking elephant doses and my poo was still blocks of concrete that took some extra help coming out – I know, I know, way too much information!!!!!
The only thing that helped me was tons and tons of water – tough to do when you are puking, nauseous and having heartburn…
Start hitting the colace now before it gets worse. It’s just a softener, not a laxative and it can take a day or two to be effective. I bet you’ll hardly notice.
Almost to the 2nd trimester! How awesome!
You might try Citricel first. It’s worked well for me. Constipation is defintely horrid (and I think mine hit about 11-12 weeks also)! Add lots of fiber to your diet, and Activia seemed to help. And loads of water!
I’m so happy that (other than constipation) things seem to be going well and that you have started to relax a bit. I know I felt a great confidence just getting out of that 1st trimester.
Yes! Belly shots!
Pruned apricots are good, too.
I’m so glad for your positivity!
glad for you…hope the constipation subsides. dr. oz says pistachios…can’t hurt to try
3 cheers for no spotting! And new bras!
I hope you have a fabulous appointment tomorrow and don’t cry too hard about a shortened day of work at the RoP.
Not that you’re asking for constipation advice, but thought I’d throw my 2 cents in. Get some good probiotics. I had terrible constipation in my 1st pregnancy. This time I’m around, I’m going like a champ.
