Just sitting here waiting to BE pregnant, or to be able to try and get pregnant, I totally feel how badly you want the wait to be over. Because it is hard to stay joyous in the wait when you're just hoping it will all work out. Like, let's get to the end part where everything was perfect, and skip the whole worrying bit and all the potential scares along the way. Hopefully time will speed up a little as you progress. In the meantime, I'm keepin' my fingers crossed that you will pass the finish line with the prize in hand!

From what I recall in med school, the HCG of pregnancy shares some structural similarities with the thyroid stimulating hormone molecule and subclinical hyperthyrpidism is common.

You will be fine.

http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=19366 is some google back up that my memory is not too shaky on this.

It would be different if you had known graves before becoming pregnant to having what you seem to have (reading between the lines here) as just a common finding in the first trimester.

That runs in DH's family. My MIL has it and her three kids are all just fine. SIL has it, too, and her three daughters are perfect as well.

Dr. Google is a very pessimistic, glass-is-half-empty-because-the-contents-are-being-sucked-into-a-black-hole kind of doctor. Best to steer clear.

Oh hon, I'm sorry. The good news is that, if they can get it under control, the issues can be mitigated. I know it isnt fair that there is one more thing. I'm sorry. :(

You'll probably just go on a synthetic hormone and they will get your levels in control. I'm hypothyroid, so I just take a pill everyday and see an endocrinologist every few months.

Pregnancy tends to screw with your thyroid levels anyway. I think it's kind of typical, that's why they check it.

But yea, I totally get that "one more thing to add to the list", disappointment. Thyroid, blood thinners, age, ... my list is long.

Hopefully it's an easy fix though.

You don't get a break, do you? I'm so sorry. How will you be treated? Is it possible this was a problem from the RPL angle? I'm thinking of you, wishing you and Sprog the best.

Susan~I'm sorry that yet another concern has creeped up. You didn't mention what your thyroid levels are (how low from normal was your TSH? Did they test TSH uptake? Free T4?) but as someone who has suffered with thyroid disease for nearly 20 years (hyper, Graves disease, now hypo), I can say that being a bit hyper is preferable, during pregnancy, to being hypo. That said, seeing an endo is your best first course of action, but your OB can give you basic information.
Will look forward to your update.
