Doctor Appointments for me & Thor

Right now, I’m living for next Monday, which is my “all is well?” scan, and the point at which I’m going to let myself believe that this is all going to be, well, well.

And until then, it’s nightmares and panicky monitoring of internal temperatures for me!   Not that I think anything could get past the antibiotic they’ve got me on – oh my!  It makes me long for morning sickness, because m/s would be less disruptive to my day.  Still, glad to take it.  Glad to do whatever ups my chances of  everything progressing as it should.

But I’ll have two appointments next week with ultrasounds – which is good! – and likely one appointment with the endocrinologist.  I suspect that when he called on Monday, I may have misunderstood what he was saying.  I’m wondering if I was supposed to see him this week, too, because I thought he was going to call when he got the results, but maybe his vague, “you’ll need to be monitored” was actually a non-confrontational way of saying “Make an appointment for this week so I can monitor you” without raising my blood pressure?

Dunno.  But can I say that juggling work with three different weekly appointments is getting stupid?  Plus, I think I’m going to have to go back to my RE’s and bug them in person about not having sent my medical records on to SuperStarOB.  So make it four doctors’ offices next week.  This from a girl who left her pediatrician at age 15 and didn’t know another doctor by name or sight until she was 38 and signed up for ART.

Sigh.

Nothing much has been happening on the naming front.  I’m still thinking “Thor” is the best bet, but the Boy will not budge.  I think this calls for sneakier tactics.  Waking him up in the middle of the night, perhaps.  Or blackmailing him somehow, til he agrees to the perfect name.

Now all I have to do is THINK of the perfect name…

funny. my husband jokingly swore he was going to name our son Thor. Until he came up with Zebulon and that became his name of choice…

  • I think you should just figure out exactly what name you want, and then after you’ve gone through labour (making sure to make it look agonizing, even if it’s not so bad), tell him that you’re the one who just pushed a coconut out your ***, and you deserve to pick.
Hope the temp stays great and that you get all sorts of good reassurance at your appointments next week. Time to settle in for a hopefully uneventful pregnancy after too much stress at the start.

  • I LOVE Thor! And you can at least call him that here. You have months of delicious bantering about names ahead. Fun! I’m so happy for you – even with all the crazy appointments – at least you get to leave the Realm of Pain for a few hours! But it gets old, I know; hopefully some of this will calm down in a few more weeks. I can’t believe you are at 13 weeks!

Aren’t you now in your second trimester?? I can’t figure it out from the babystrology ticker but I think you are! Just a few more weeks until you start to feel movement. Hopefully that will help you feel more secure too.

And that is a LOT of doctor appointments. WOW

THOR THOR THOR THOR THOR THOR THOR THOR!

  • Oh, the naming! So hard. We went through this with my daughter, who we named Wynn (which, by the way, is my most favorite name ever now). If I ever do get pregnant again, I’m terrified to have to go through this naming process again!

  • Whose surname will he have? I got extra points as the kids have his name. Not that let my more leftfield choices win through. Nothing quite like Thor mind!
Hope that all the upcoming appts go smoothly and you don’t have to spend your entire week going from drs office to drs office. Really pleased at the positive results from the cvs too.
