And here I thought I was alone with that lump in my throat. My daughter just turned 14 months...first and only child conceived through IVF. I know that we are not having anymore..I am 42 and consider myself blessed - VERY blessed by the child that we do have. Each time I take something out of her closet/dresser that no longer fits, a little piece of me goes with it knowing that she was once so small...and is now her own little person. When I go to the basement and see the chair, bouncy seat, etc. that she is too big for, my eyes fill with tears.

I've had those moments. LG sleeps under a pillow frequently. At what age do blankets stop being a hazard? I'd guess Henry's probably beyond that concern? But still, I know.

Brownies. Yum.

I have that SAME lump in my throat. I can use the excuse that I have two frosties waiting for me even though I am about to have my 48th birthday. My girl is now 20 months and I am planning to use them this year. But even still to part with any of her things after 20 years of ttc is hard for me to do. In the meantime, the bins are piling up and I feel like a hoarder which is not like me. As I put each item of clothing in the bins I can see her wearing it and I get teary. I hope this gets better with time.

Yeah, that's one of our 'go-to' foods, but he also eats it most mornings & I REALLY don't want him getting tired of morning oatmeal!

I think you have said that Henry loves sweet potatoes? I make my Josh a baby version of "three layer dish" I brown organic ground turkey with diced apples, onions & celery (you could use any veggies really) I layer that on the bottom and then top it with sweet potatoes mashed with a bit of butter, cinnamon & milk...this freezes awesome in small plastic containers or even snack sized ziplocs and is a hit 99% of the time :) Maybe worth a try? Good luck!

I totally agree, our son is a couple months older than Henri and has been eating the same food than us since he is one...just a suggestion, maybe you can also try the fruit cups in fruit juice with no sugar added...our son loves the peach and mixed fruits and it's a decent alternative until more fruits are in season.

MUST TRY nutella+biscuits. Cannot believe that combo's never occurred to me...

As far as Hen's baby-food went--I pureed/froze a lot of the stew-y meals that we like, as well as veggies (like parsnips) which were impossible to get as pre-made baby food. He loved the pre-made fruit purees--I did apples & pears at home, but bought the 'exotics' as baby food--pineapple, mango, mixes, etc., because I'm lazy.

I've always offered him whatever we're eating and have tried to make a point of letting him take it at his own pace--even if that means feeding him lots & lots of baby yogurt after a failed experiment. He's ALWAYS exhibited a preference for whatever we're eating, though, so I can't say how much of it is inborn & how much learned. Amy's frozen burritos are pretty much his every day lunch now, because he loves them so much. Stonyfield farm baby/toddler yogurt is a huge hit, again, pretty much EVERY morning (and sometimes after dinner, too)

And I did try to make sure I wasn't feeding him things I wouldn't want to eat. I'm not one for particularly salty food, but baby cereal with no salt is vile! I figured if I wouldn't eat it, then neither should he. And he does like strong tastes (at least this week!) as a result. I'm not sure why people get surprised that their baby raised with no spices grows to prefer 'chicken fingers' and vanilla pudding!

So start off as you mean to go on? All the meat-product baby foods I tried were disgusting, and it was easy enough to make a big batch of stew & puree/freeze our leftovers. Good luck!

speaking of breakfast... buttermilk biscuits and nutella, if you are up for chocolate in the morning. bonus points for oh-so-easy homemade buttermilk biscuits in heart shapes :-)

I suppose I could go back and look, because I am pretty sure you mentioned it at some point... but did you do baby food with Henry? He sounds like such a great eater, gotta figure out how to copy your success with my little guy!
