1. Getting everything set up for our first round of moving into the perfect house. Phone service, getting the gas/heat turned on, mail service going. We’re heading up next week with the piano and some furniture that’s been living at the Boy’s parents house up in Connecticut. The adventure begins! 2. Eyelashes. Baby eyelashes in [...]
1. A long cuddly morning in bed while the Boy & my father took Nellie to the dog park. Of course, while snuggled in, the wee one managed to wee ALL over the place. Seriously, this child pees like a racehorse. But fortunately, it was the Boy’s turn to change the diaper, so he also [...]
1. The Boy is up in NH closing on the Perfect House. In another hour I’ll be a homeowner again! Yay! Damn, I can’t wait to get up there and start making it OURS! Paint! Furniture! Day lilies in the yard! Morning glories! Birdfeeders! CHICKENS!!! 2. A cool, rainy day, which will be good for [...]
1. Just found out I can use my fancy stroller without the car-seat even though Henry doesn’t – obviously – have head-control yet. The regular seat apparently reclines enough. This makes me happy because car seat? Huge, bulky, awkward & heavy. Much easier this way. 2. Sourdough toast with butter & honey. yum. 3. I [...]
1. Baby on my lap, typing away at the breakfast table. One excursion (well, ok, one doctor’s appointment) planned, and I’m feeling like life’s pretty damned perfect right now. Want to hold onto this feeling since I’m sure there will be times in the future when I’m not quite so contented as I am this [...]
1. It’s a special day today. It’s my wedding anniversary, and I’ve been married to the man I adore beyond all words for two years now. How wonderful is that? 2. My sister-in-law made Henry an incredibly gorgeous quilt, and her daughter knit him this fantastic stroller blanket: This little boy is so very loved [...]
1. Even after a long, sleepless night like last night, I wake up and see his little eyes following me as I change his diaper, feed him, play with his fingers, and everything’s all right, everything’s exactly how it should be. How did I get this lucky? 2. My MobyWrap (And a heartfelt THANK YOU [...]
1. My son is one week old today. 2. And he has the cutest little prehensile toes. 3. He’s starting to focus his eyes – and attention – on whomever is talking to him at any given moment. 4. Thus far, at least he’s – apparently – a remarkably well-behaved little guy. Waild when he’s [...]
1. Filling out a baby book is sort of tedious, but I’m thinking in 25 years? It’s going to be one of my most precious possessions. Yeah, I’m already dreading the day he leaves home. What of it? 2. I am – weirdly enough, because I don’t look it – at my pre-pregnancy weight already. [...]
1. Home! Love being home where no one will randomly wake me up in the middle of the night to take my blood pressure. 2. Nellie loves Henry – or rather, Nellie is fascinated by Henry. When he makes a sound, she hurries over to lick the back of his head in what I am [...]

My husband and I started trying to conceive in October of 2007. We figured it'd be easy since he already has three daughters who were conceived within a month of trying.
Hah.
Three IVFs: (1 missed miscarriage at 8 weeks, 1 ectopic pregnancy miscarried at 5 weeks, 1 spontaneous pregnancy that ended in a missed miscarriage at 5 weeks); and 1 FET (a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks.)
Which equals: lots of drugs injected, lots of money spent, lots of weight gained. But no live babies. Infertility sucks. RPL sucks ass.
So we moved on to using donor eggs, and achieved a healthy, genetically normal pregnancy our first try. After all the drama of the last few years, my pregnancy was essentially uneventful.
Henry was born on September 18, 2010 and he is, without a doubt, the best thing that ever happened to me. This blog is in the process of becoming less of an ongoing infertility journal and more of a mommy/radical homemaker/writer blog. Can't wait to see what's next for us.
